Abstract We examine the role of soil conservation practices (SCPs) in promoting sustainable agri‐food production to achieve food and nutrition security. To this end, we use endogenous treatment regression model, as it allows us address selection bias associated with SCP adoption. Data sourced from 2020 China Land Economic Survey, collected by Nanjing Agricultural University, China, are examined. First, analyse association between adoption SCPs rice yield; focus on is most common staple globally. Then, links dietary diversity consumption seven specific foods (rice, potato, pork, poultry, egg, fruits vegetable oil). This glean insights into how may affect patterns rural communities. The findings show that adopting an 8.5% increase yield. Rice yields intensification Disaggregated analysis suggests low‐income farmers receive yield promotion compared wealthier ones. Meanwhile, among three (i.e. remediation, commercial organic fertiliser application formulated fertilisation) considered our study, only fertilisation increases yields. Furthermore, higher protein‐rich lower diversity.

Small-scale food producers can benefit significantly from the adoption and effective utilization of Information Communication Technologies (ICTs). For example, ICTs help improve production access to markets, which is particularly valuable in many Sub-Saharan African countries that both urbanize rapidly but whose systems still rely on small-scale producers. This study examines patterns desirable characteristics ICTs, as well factors influencing them, among engaged urban agriculture South Africa. We administered 85 in-person surveys through referrals local producers’ network disadvantaged areas Cape Town ( n = 21; Gugulethu, Philippi, Khayelitsha) Johannesburg 64; Central Business District, Soweto, Orange Farm). A substantial proportion respondents articulated need for food-related mobile applications with functions facilitate price comparisons, sharing best practices health advice. User-friendliness, low internet data use, affordability were perceived most important such applications. Redundancy analysis (RDA) reveals socioeconomic demographic influence desired functionalities apps their preferred activities respondents. Producers are married have more children, higher income education, own larger land holdings, show very distinct terms uses apps. Our research underscores comprehensive approaches development promotion when targeting The barriers needs identified here ICT developers, agencies policy-makers design fit-for-purpose interventions policies urbanizing areas.

Assessing farmers’ satisfaction with Input Credit (IC) is essential for agricultural modernization in Sub-Saharan African countries. Therefore, based on socio-economics data, this study aimed to determine the potential factors influencing IC. The data were collected through a questionnaire from random sample of 311 farmers Nawa region southwestern Côte d’Ivoire November 2022. Farmers rated constraints use IC three main indicators: (1) availability inputs, (2) accessibility, and (3) credit repayment conditions. In addition descriptive statistics, logistic regression model was constructed compute results using Stata 17.0 software. findings statistics showed that 61.97% dissatisfied IC, while 38.03% satisfied. also indicated about 61.15% constrained by services compared 38.85%. revealed significantly influence annual production required number years (at 1%) use, training programs farmers, farm size, input price 10%), age 5%). Accordingly, cacao still faces multiple complex factors. So, provide practical implications policymakers innovators support smallholder providing high-quality technology innovation adoption programs.
