In the highlands of Ethiopia, integrated community watershed management has drawn a lot interest as solution to low production and soil degradation. However, documentation its role in managing fertility health under diverse landscape perspectives remains inadequate. The main objective this study was link effects positions practices (conservation agriculture (CA) non-CA) on selected properties. Disturbed undisturbed samples were collected at depth 0-20 cm from 192 locations (16 different watersheds) analyze texture, bulk density (ρd), pH, organic carbon (SOC), total nitrogen (TN), available phosphorus (Av.P). used analysis variance (ANOVA), Pearson correlation, principal component examine relationship between factors, identify patterns, understand data variability. findings indicated that position significantly affects values ρd, sand clay, SOC, Av.P, TN p < 0.05. sand, showed statistically significant variations CA non-CA. interaction status (well poor) highly for properties except silt pH. results also demonstrated substantial correlation observed Meanwhile, components 1-3 collectively described 64.45% Therefore, it is possible infer successful intervention improves topsoil properties, which urges maintenance development water conservation, CA, vermicomposting practices.

Context There is limited information on how catena features can be used to refine fertiliser recommendations in the undulating landscapes of east African highlands. Aims (1) Determine effects landscape positions and soil types crop-nutrient responses, rainwater productivity (RWP); (2) identify wheat yield-limiting nutrients across positions. Methods Two sets on-farm nutrient management experiments with were conducted foot slope, mid-slope, hillslope over 71 sites 2016 2019. The first experiment Vertisols, Nitisols, Regosols, Cambisols different levels N/P2O5, K2O, SO4. second N/P2O5 Zn. Key results NP increased yield × K S interactions total biomass by 5–76%. Zinc type interaction Vertisols (6%) (9%), but increasing Zn did not improve Nitisols. position at slope (2%) mid-slope (13%) Cambisols, Vertisols. N138P69 significantly RWP Soil water contents decreased regardless source application rate. Conclusions Landscape may an indicator for targeting site-specific recommendations. Farms hillslopes could better ameliorated applying organic amendments sustainable land practices. Implications Taking into account help manage use
