Reclaiming
derelict
mine
land
is
good
for
the
environment,
public
health,
and
agricultural
production.
Technologies
to
optimise
soil
fertility
crop
yields
with
least
time,
cost
damage
environment
have
been
developed
in
Nikopol
district
of
Dnipropetrovs'k
region
which
has
extensively
strip-mined
manganese
and,
some
places,
restored
by
replacement
overburden.
Perennial
legume-grass
mixtures
recreate
fertile
soil,
not
only
reconstituted
chernozem
but,
also,
raw
overburden
materials.
Different
materials
respond
at
different
rates
but
over
longer
term
(50
years),
continue
improve
physical,
chemical
biological
attributes.
The
lessons
learned
are
equally
applicable
reclamation
war-torn
land.

order
to
study
the
strength
characteristics
of
red
clay
stabilized
by

dosage
