Spodoptera frugiperda (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae), commonly known as fall armyworm, was first detected in Uganda 2016 and has spread to all the maize-growing districts. Different methods have been deployed control this pest. However, there is a limited understanding of role environment farmers’ practices on abundance damage by S. Uganda. This study, therefore, assessed leaf levels three different districts explored association between agronomic practices, crop phenology, weather parameters smallholder maize fields using longitudinal monitoring survey 69 Kole, Kiryandongo, Nakaseke for seasons. The numbers egg masses adults were generally low. highest trapped followed Nakaseke, lowest Kole. Leaf incidence damaged plants differed significantly larvae varied at growth stages. Conservation tillage, reduced weeding frequency, increased rainfall high maximum temperatures associated with damage. No significant relationship observed pesticide or cropping systems influence fertilizer use contradictory across seasons Timely vigilant scouting, proper timing measures, minimum tillage should be included an IPM strategy frugiperda.

Abstract The fall armyworm (FAW), Spodoptera frugiperda (J. E. Smith) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae), is a globally significant agricultural pest, causing severe damage to corn production in China. Chemical odor‐based trapping major approach for FAW control, making it essential understand the antennal sensillum types enhance development of effective chemical odor attractants. In this study, we comprehensively examined sensilla FAW, identifying eight and two subtypes, including Böhm's bristles, trichoidea, chaetica (I II), coeloconica, styloconica, squamiformia auricillica, basiconica.
