Rice breeding for multi‐canopy system: Estimations of genetic parameters and response to selection

Abstract
One
strategy
currently
being
developed
to
increase
rice
(
Oryza
sativa
L.)
productivity
is
using
a
multi‐canopy
cropping
system
in
cultivation.
This
method
involves
planting
tall
and
short
genotypes
the
same
hill.
The
objective
of
this
experiment
was
estimate
genetic
parameters
response
selection
rice.
Each
arranged
an
augmented
randomized
complete
block
design
with
five
replications
for
checks.
In
first
season,
200
F
3
families
from
IPB196
IPB197
populations
were
planted
monoculture
as
genotypes.
IPB187‐F‐40‐1‐1
used
genotype.
Selection
25%
based
on
grain
weight
per
hill
genotype
performed,
50
selected
their
4
seeds
second
season
along
results
indicated
×
significant
generations.
Grain
has
similar
realized
h
2
ns
(0.58)
(0.54).
Meanwhile,
(3.60)
higher
compared
(2.09),
therefore
lines
should
be
conducted
environment.
A
percentage
5%
resulted
selection.
These
findings
may
provide
insight
into
acceleration
breeding
varieties
system.

irrigators,
besides
focusing
opportunities
risks
drip
arid
zones.
It
reviews
issues
confronted
by
Bangladesh
climate
change,
sector
problem,
saving
system.
The
discoveries
advise
that
smart
technologies
should
be
included
for
efficiency
so
productivity
not
checked
coming
future.
With
regards
this,
it
hope
pinpoint
areas

support
policy
