Assessing niche evolution remains an open question and actively developing area of study. The family Ursidae consists eight extant species for which, despite being the most studied carnivores, little is known about influence climate on their evolutionary history diversification. We evaluated patterns based a combined phylogeography modeling approach. used complete mitogenomes, estimated divergence times, generated ecological models applied phyloclimatic model to determine diversification associated with respective environmental niches. inferred path along conditions maximum temperature minimum precipitation, from around 20 million years ago present. Our findings show that niches bear occupy space available planet, except extreme warm conditions, in accordance wide geographic distribution Ursidae. Moreover, some exhibit broader than others, cases, they explore precipitation axes more extensively or vice versa, suggesting not all are equally adaptable these variables. were able elucidate potential conservatism evolution, as well overlapping, interspecific competitive exclusion between species. present valuable insights into processes driving approach also provides essential information guiding effective conservation strategies, particularly terms limits face change.
