In the European Union, salmonellosis is one of most important zoonoses reported. Poultry meat and egg products are common food matrices associated with Salmonella presence. Moreover, wild domestic animals could represent an reservoir that favour direct indirect transmission pathogens to humans. spp. can infect carnivorous or omnivorous birds regularly ingest water exposed faecal contamination. Birds kept in captivity act as reservoirs following ingestion infected prey feed. this paper, we describe isolation different serovars several species raptors hosted aviaries Italian wildlife centre raw chicken necks used their feed but intended for human consumption. Characterisations strains were carried out by integrating classical methods whole genome sequencing analysis. The S. bredeney isolated poultry belonged same cluster, some them being multidrug-resistant (MDR) carrying Col(pHAD28) plasmid-borne qnrB19 (fluoro)quinolone resistance gene, thus confirming source infection. Differently, infantis found all MDR, a plasmid emerging (pESI)-like clusters, possibly suggesting long-lasting infection presence additional undetected sources. Due high risk fuelling pathogens, control treatment captive crucial.
