Atrial fibrillation (AF) is a common cardiac arrhythmia associated with significant morbidity and mortality. The role of epicardial adipose tissue (EAT), particularly in the left atrium, has garnered attention pathophysiology AF. This review aims to provide an overview association between thickness atrial (LA-EAT) incidence AF, while exploring arrhythmogenic effects LA-EAT impact fat changes age pathological conditions. A comprehensive search PubMed was conducted, relevant studies were selected based on their inclusion criteria. findings suggest that increased elevated risk potentially mediated through inflammatory proarrhythmic effects. Age-related alterations conditions, such as obesity, metabolic syndrome, cardiovascular diseases, further contribute development progression Further research needed deepen our understanding these mechanisms clinical implications.

This study presents a comprehensive analysis of 898 clinical trials conducted between 1999 and 2023, focusing on the interplay metabolic syndrome, cardiovascular diseases (CVDs), type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2D). draws upon data sourced from International Clinical Trials Registry Platform (ICTRP) until August 2023. The were predominantly interventional (67%) or observational (33%). A geographical distribution reveals that while United States registered approximately 18% trials, other regions like Australia, Kingdom, multicounty made substantial contributions. Most studies (84%) included both male female participants, with adults aged 18 to 65 years represented. aimed at treatment (21%) prevention (21%), emphasizing dual focus addressing existing CVD risk preventing its development. Notably, CVDs (29%), T2D (8%), coexistence constituted primary conditions interest. Key interventions encompassed lifestyle behavioral modifications, dietary supplementation, drug therapies, metformin statins leading in pharmacological treatments. Interestingly, additional such as glucagon-like peptide-1 agonists dipeptidyl peptidase IV inhibitors are gaining recognition for their potential managing syndrome-related conditions. Moreover, report highlights growing inflammation, body mass index, blood pressure, weight, major adverse events outcomes. Overall, importance ICTRP source targeting CVDs, diverse intervention strategies address this critical global health concern.
