The aim of this study was to develop a microemulsion from the essential oil Citrus aurantium var. dulcis (EOCA) as an alternative synthetic pesticides, and evaluate its efficacy against Aleurocanthus woglumi selectivity towards natural enemies Aschersonia aleyrodis Ceraeochrysa cornuta. Chemical composition determined by gas chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry revealed limonene, myrcene, linalool α-pinene major components. prepared using ternary diagram illustrating water, oil, surfactant (procetyl AWS) co-surfactant (ethanol). Selected microemulsions were characterized polarized light microscopy, revealing be isotropic Newtonian behaviour when measuring shear stress rate. mean droplet size ranged 53.69 nm 2.22 μm. insecticidal activity evaluated assessing three application routes, namely, contact, systemic translaminar. Selectivity percentage growth inhibition (PGI) fungi on A. contact eggs larvae C. (LC50 = 36.07 mg/mL) in pure form had lower effect than 18.65 mg/mL). showed approximately 90% mortality at 72 h (LC90 55.50 On aleyrodis, interfered biomass production, which concentration dependent. At 15.68 mg/mL, 91% production observed. In experiments cornuta, selective for larvae, did not interfere predatory capacity.

Food supply disruption and shortage verified during the current pandemic events are a scenario that many anticipate for near future. The impact of climate changes on food production, continuous decrease in arable land, exponential growth human population important drivers this problem. In context, adding value to waste is an obvious strategy mitigate shortages, but there long way go field. Globally, it estimated one-third all produced lost. This certainly due different factors, lack awareness consumer about nutritional certain foods parts, namely peels seeds, among them. review, we will unveil bioactive discarded from most fresh fruit vegetables consumed worldwide as waste. span characterization composition selected fruits vegetables, particularly their seeds peels, possible uses, whether our diet or recycled other ends.
