Silymarin, derived from Silybum marianum, has been used in traditional medicine for various ailments. In this study, the cardioprotective and hepatoprotective effects of silymarin against paracetamol-induced oxidative stress were examined 28 male Swiss Webster mice, divided into four groups treated 7 days (via oral route) with (a) saline 1 mL/kg (control group), (b) + single dose paracetamol 110 mg/kg on 7th day; (c) 50 mg/kg; (d) day. vitro vivo antioxidant activity together liver enzyme evaluated. Histopathological immunohistochemical assessment was performed. Silymarin mitigated injury by reducing markers such as lipid peroxidation restoring activity. treatment resulted a significant decrease levels. Reduced necrosis inflammatory infiltrate tissues silymarin-treated detected well. Immunohistochemical analysis demonstrated reduced expression (COX2, iNOS) marker (SOD2) groups. Similar trends observed cardiac tissue. These results suggest that exerts potent stress, making it promising therapeutic agent heart diseases associated damage.

Anthocyanins are important bioactive compounds crucial for the sensory characteristics of red wines. Anthocyanin profiles 205 monovarietal wines from Canary Islands were investigated. Eleven anthocyanins identified and determined using HPLC-DAD. concentrations produced in fell within usual range observed other regions. Red elaborated with international grape cultivars presented, general, higher mean than those autochthonous cultivars. The influence cultivar, production island, denomination origin, wine aging on anthocyanin concentration was studied, leading to deduction that parameter highest influence. A high number significant correlations between found out supporting a common organic synthetic way these coloured phenolics. Application multivariate analysis techniques, such as principal component discriminant analysis, tended classify samples according geographical areas, aging. This study could contribute quality control verification industry, which is an interesting tool prevention fraud increasing consumer confidence.

Advances in the understanding of bioavailability and metabolism bioactive compounds have been achieved primarily through targeted or semi-targeted metabolomics approaches using hypothesis potential metabolized compounds. The recent development untargeted can present great advantages this field, such as discovery new to study from multiple matrices simultaneously. Thus, proposes use an strategy based on HPLC-ESI-QTOF-MS for different vegetal sources. Specifically, has applied plasma samples collected acute human intervention three (Hibiscus sabdariffa, Silybum marianum Theobroma cacao). This approach allowed selection those significant variables associated with exogenous metabolites derived consumption their subsequent identification. As a result, 14, 25 3 supplement intake were significantly detected volunteers who ingested H. sabdariffa (HS), S. (SM) T. cacao (TC) extracts. Furthermore, Tmax values computed each compound. results highlight rapid comprehensive analysis when working wide range plant sources biological samples.
