Introduction: Viral infections cause oxygen deprivation, leading to hypoxia or anoxia in certain tissues. The limitation of mitochondrial respiration is one the major events during that induces alternative metabolic activities and increased levels biomolecules such as nitric oxide (NO) metabolites. In this study, we aimed investigate role NO metabolites HPV infection. Materials Methods: We included 36 patients with palmoplantar warts healthy subjects performed serum determinations (direct nitrite, total nitrate, 3-nitrotyrosine) HIF1α, a marker hypoxia. Results: found elevated decreased direct nitrite/nitrate ratios versus controls. Additionally, identified statistically significant positive correlations between HIF1α levels, except for 3-nitrotyrosine. Conclusions: Our findings show infection causes alterations metabolism suggest link wart development cellular stress. research could provide new insights comprehensive understanding pathogenesis cutaneous infections.
