Korean mistletoe (Viscum album var. coloratum, KML) offers remarkable therapeutic potential for a variety of diseases. This study aims to evaluate the effects and molecular mechanisms KML ethanol extracts (KMLE), focusing on intestinal barrier function tight junctions (TJs) in an interleukin (IL)-6-induced Caco-2 cell monolayer model dextran sodium sulfate (DSS)-induced ulcerative colitis (UC) mouse model. KMLE is non-cytotoxic cells demonstrated strong antioxidant activity. alleviated significant dysfunction protected junction proteins (TJPs) vitro. Furthermore, clinical symptoms histopathological damage, upregulated TJPs, suppressed inflammatory cytokines vivo. Additionally, six bioactive compounds were identified by liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). In conclusion, ameliorated vitro These findings underscore as agent UC, providing insights into through anti-inflammatory properties its ability restore TJ integrity.
