Polyethylene imine (PEI) is a synthetic water-soluble and nitrogen-rich polymer with an ethylene amine repeating unit. It exists in linear or branched forms finds applications various areas. PEI often chemically modified by crosslinking reactions using molecular polymeric crosslinkers (e.g., trichlorotriazine, epichlorohydrin, glycol diglycidyl ether, poly(ethylene glycol) etc.) to increase its stability reduce water solubility. (pristine/crosslinked) has strong affinity for metal cations Cu2+, Au3+, Pb2+, etc.), where the nitrogen atoms interact ions, hence suitable remove metals from high efficiency. A thin film of crosslinked on substrates can be prepared diverse such as removing dyes, biofouling prevention marine environment. The copper ion, example, stored (adsorbed) carbon cloth substrate, which released passing electric current through acid treatment. also been reported that composite materials used adsorption dyes gases CO2 SO2 performance pristine/composite/crosslinked gas, dye affected several factors. focus this review discuss different crosslink properties their applications. Studies have shown success capturing dependent not only type crosslinker but degree crosslinking.
