Abstract The increasing use of pesticides necessitates the development innovative analytical methods to regulate environmental impacts and ensure food safety. Aptamer-based sensors hold great promise for pesticide detection owing their superior selectivity, stability, repeatability, regenerative capabilities. Integrated with nanomaterials, aptasensors have demonstrated enhanced sensitivity detecting a broad range pesticides. This study first introduces aptamer binding mechanism presents fundamental concept justification selecting over other biorecognition molecules. It then provides comprehensive review recent advancements applications various types targeted detection, including electrochemical, fluorescent, colorimetric, electrochemiluminescent, surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) aptasensors. Additionally, it offers comparative analysis different by evaluating strengths limitations. Finally, this discusses strategies, such as advanced Systemic Evolution Ligands Exponential Enrichment (SELEX) technique, self-assembled monolayers (SAMs), antifouling agents improve aptamer’s signal-to-noise ratio, mitigate nonspecific adsorption challenges. These developments are essential creating highly sensitive selective aptasensors, facilitating practical in monitoring
