With increasing interest in automatic and intelligent systems to enhance the building construction industry, digital twins (DT) are gaining popularity as cost-effective solutions meet stakeholder requirements. Comprising real-time multi-asset connectivity, simulation, decision support functionalities, many recent studies have utilised Industry 4.0 technologies with DT fulfil construction-specific applications. However, there is no comprehensive review our knowledge, holistically examining benefits of using a platform from angles technologies, project management, lifecycle. To bridge this gap, systematic literature 182 papers on DT-in-construction works over past 6 years conducted address three perspectives. In review, unified framework first modelled incorporate within structure. Next, Six M methodology (comprising Machine, Manpower, Material, Measurement, Milieu, Method) based Ishikawa’s Diagram lifecycle considerations proposed highlight advantages ensuring successful projects. Lastly, through identification 11 future directions, work aims serve reference for both industry academia towards use fundamental enabler realise Construction paradigm.

Construction sector spending makes a significant contribution to the global economy, with approximately $10 trillion being spent on building and construction activities annually. However, industry has traditionally been perceived as slow adapt new technologies compared other sectors. Recently, experienced substantial shift towards Digital Transformation. As have emerged, begun realize importance of Transformation in pre-construction, construction, facility management phases. A high degree seen regarding site monitoring, wearables, sensors, identifying hazards. This paper intends sketch picture digital implemented throughout entire project lifecycle. By fully analyzing more than 200 papers, finds that various aspects industry, including technologies, policies, regulations, infrastructures, are still early stages The findings from this review will help researchers practitioners understand technology implementation where stands process. also serves starting point for future work industry. research is limited vertical projects does not include horizontal integration. Finally, study give guideline successful examples which used specific phases, so can get holistic view use environment.

Purpose Electronic bidding (e-bidding) offers a promising approach to promoting sustainable construction practices, yet research on its benefits and barriers remains underresearched. This study addresses this gap by investigating stakeholder perceptions examine prominent implementing e-bidding for practices in Vietnam. Design/methodology/approach Data from 104 professionals Vietnam were analyzed through various statistical methods such as reliability testing, ANOVA analysis, Tukey’s post hoc analysis ranking mean scores. Findings The tests revealed significant differences how owners, authorities, contractors perceive the of e-bidding. findings highlighted several key benefits, including enhanced storage retrieval information, support digital transformation facilitation new contractor entrance. In addition, underscored critical barriers, security data privacy concerns, incompatible tools lack expertise national platforms. Originality/value contributes body knowledge examining stakeholders’ perceived associated with implementation context practices. Practically, proposed specific actionable recommendations stakeholders Vietnam, which can ultimately contribute more enhance efficiency effectiveness processes.

Digital twins (DTs) and building information modelling (BIM) are proving to be valuable tools for managing the entire life cycle of a (LCB), from early design stages management maintenance over time. On other hand, BIM platforms cannot manage geometric complexities existing buildings large amount that sensors can collect. For this reason, research proposes scan-to-BIM process capable high levels detail (LODs) (LOIs) during design, construction site management, phases. Specific grades generation (GOGs) were applied create as-found, as-designed, as-built models interact with support rehabilitation project multi-level residential building. Furthermore, thanks sharing specific APIs (Revit Autodesk Forge APIs), it was possible switch static representations novel interoperability interactivity user more advanced forms such as DT, cloud, an extended reality (XR) web platform. Finally, development live app shows how different types users (professionals non-expert) in order know characteristics which environments have been designed, well environmental parameters, increasing their degree control, point view improving comfort, use, costs, behaviour, good practices. overall approach verified through real case study where BIM-XR platform built energy improvements façade renovations.
