This study explores the strategic integration of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Virtual Reality (VR) within built environment, addressing growing complexities urban development. Through a detailed examination BIM applications, research highlights 37% reduction in design conflicts iterations, thereby enhancing precision efficiency construction projects. Simultaneously, VR technology is demonstrated to increase stakeholder engagement by 62% improve spatial awareness 48%, fostering greater community participation inclusivity development process. The combined use optimizes not only workflows but also considerably enhances environmental socio-economic outcomes, such as remarkable 20% greenhouse gas emissions. It will, therefore, support advanced infrastructure provide replicable model for sustainable resilient planning. underlines crucial contribution integrating technologies sustainability resilience environment.

Integrating Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Immersive Technologies (ImT) provides several benefits, such as the inclusion of clients in design process, thereby improving construction management practices. BIM's propensity for digital data management, coupled with ImT's enhanced communication coordination capabilities, addresses inherent issues like fragmentation collaboration challenges projects. While prior studies have primarily examined BIM ImT individually, limited research has explored synergistic integration these two technologies potential benefits they can offer when combined context architecture, engineering, (AEC) industry. This paper reviews strategies prospects integrating existing literature, aiming to identify categorize key socio-technical criteria that support successful ImT. A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) was accordingly employed, following PRISMA guidelines, analyzing 56 academic journals from Scopus ASCE Library databases on building projects 2013 May 2023. The results reveal various attributes integration, including use BIM-related software Autodesk Revit, hardware Oculus Rift HTC Vive, game engines Unity3D, standards FBX, collaborative platforms 360 Trimble Connect. Essential technical were identified aspects: emphasizing system optimization seamless exchange, alongside non-technical focusing user engagement, learning, effective stakeholder collaboration. study also highlights significant gaps, need standardized methodologies, more detailed discussions, user-centric strategies, pinpointing areas further exploration refine practices while providing valuable insights into adoption efficacy transformation AEC sector.

The rapid urbanization of recent decades has intensified climate change challenges, demanding sophisticated solutions to build resilient and sustainable cities. A key aspect urban planning is decentralizing democratizing its processes, which requires citizen involvement from the early design stages. While current such as digital tools, participatory workshops, gamification, social media can enhance participation, they often exclude non-experts or those lacking skills. To address these limitations, this manuscript proposes a VR/AR gamified solution using open-source software open GIS data. Specifically, it investigates euPOLIS game an innovative tool offering alternative traditional approaches. This decentralizes by shifting technical tasks experts while citizens engage interactively, focusing solely on proposing solutions. explore potential proposed methodology, was demonstrated workshop activity in TNOC 2024 Festival, where 30 individuals different academic background (i.e., citizens, architects, planners, etc.) voluntarily engaged provided their impressions feedback. findings suggest that serious/simulation AR/VR games effectively promote co-design, co-participation, co-creation inclusive engaging manner.
