Using the colloidal method, attempts were made to deposit Au NPs on seven different material supports (TiO2, α and γ-Al2O3, HFeO2, CeO2, C, SiO2). The deposition between 0.8 1 wt% of can be generally achieved, apart for SiO2 (no deposition) α-alumina (0.3 wt%). resultant sizes dependent nature as well surface area support. catalytic activity selectivity supported catalysts then compared in alkylation aniline by benzyl alcohol. Correlations support, size NP, H-binding energy. A minimum energy 1100 μV K-1 was found necessary high secondary amine. Comparisons TEM images pre- post-reaction also revealed extent NP agglomeration under reaction conditions.
