Abstract The ternary chalcogenide ZnIn 2 S 4 (ZIS) has been synthesized by a simple hydrothermal method in which the carcinogen thiacetamide, universally used as precursor, been, for first time, replaced successfully with harmless thiourea. ZIS photocatalyst partial oxidation of different aromatic alcohols to their corresponding aldehyde water solution, under ambient conditions and simulated solar light irradiation. photocatalytic performance was better than TiO P25. In presence 4‐methoxybenzyl alcohol, piperonyl benzyl selectivity towards 99 % conversion 46 %, 75 81 87 25 respectively, obtained. For same 19 41 13 16 26 observed

Domestic and industrial wastewaters are complex matrices that contain a large variety of pollutants. Consequently, the conventional processes at wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) cannot remove these. These pollutants remain in effluent discharged into different environmental compartments worldwide, generating range negative impacts on environment human health. In this chapter, general features application most common advanced oxidation (AOPs) for domestic described.
