This study investigates the green synthesis of zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) using leaf extract as a natural reducing agent, evaluating their antimicrobial and photocatalytic properties. The were annealed at 320 °C 500 °C, effects concentration annealing temperature on structural, morphological, electronic properties systematically explored. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis confirmed hexagonal wurtzite structure ZnO, with crystallite size defect density being influenced by extract. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) revealed formation smaller, spherical particles, increased aggregation observed higher concentrations. Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) identified key functional groups, such hydroxyl C–O bonds, metal–oxygen vibrations. UV–Vis showed reduction in band gap energy an increase Urbach increased. activity ZnO NPs was evaluated against Gram-positive Gram-negative bacteria well Candida albicans, demonstrating significant antibacterial efficacy. Photocatalytic degradation studies methylene blue dye superior efficiency up to 74% for samples, particularly °C. research highlights potential green-synthesized wide range applications, including agents, water purification, environmental catalysis. It contributes advancement sustainable nanotechnology, offering promising solutions both technological ecological challenges.
