Environmental light exposure plays a role in the entrainment of infant circadian rhythm, which is crucial for growth and development. This scoping review aims to evaluate existing literature linking development rhythm. conducted accordance with PRISMA-ScR guidelines. The search strategy was total six databases (PubMed, Cochrane Database Systematic Reviews, Science Direct, Google Scholar, Taylor Francis, Wiley) as August 2024. narrative studies, observational experimental studies published from 2012 2024 were extracted. These discussed on A 25 retrieved (3 6 16 reviews). Evidence showed that cycled lighting beneficial rhythm according 24-h light-dark cycle. Cycled improved nighttime sleep daytime wakefulness, promoting optimum Limited due ethical considerations infants study participants. Conclusions: Given benefits development, it should be implemented both healthcare home settings promote infant.

Melatonin plays a pivotal role in the regulation of biological rhythms, beginning during prenatal development through maternal signalling and continuing postnatally via breast milk. In neonates, whose circadian systems are functionally immature, melatonin serves as critical entraining agent, facilitating synchronisation sleep–wake cycle, supporting neurodevelopmental processes, enhancing immune system maturation. Breast milk demonstrates distinct diurnal variations concentration, alongside other bioactive components, establishing it vital chrononutritional medium. This rhythmic delivery is particularly significant for preterm infants, who lack sufficient endogenous production especially reliant on exogenous sources entrainment. Several factors, including mode delivery, health, alignment, handling or processing expressed milk, may influence content its bioavailability. Disruption whether due to environmental factors such continuous light exposure neonatal intensive care units desynchronised feeding schedules – can interfere with optimal physiological development. Recognising chronobiological significance opens new perspectives care. Promoting practices aligned principles, time-of-day-sensitive administration, support more favourable immunological outcomes, vulnerable populations. knowledge has potential inform future evidence-based strategies perinatal clinical
