INTRODUCTION: Eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) is associated with atopy; however, recent studies have identified an association food-specific immunoglobulin G 4 (FS-IgG ) rather than E antibodies. This study aimed to evaluate the role of serum FS-IgG in guiding elimination diet and its outcomes. METHODS: Patients without EoE were enrolled a prospective, controlled, single tertiary center trial. Serum titers, esophageal eosinophil counts, dysphagia symptom questionnaire scores assessed, participants elevated (ImmunoCAP, cutoff 10 mgA/L) commenced 6-week targeted diet. Repeat endoscopic histologic examination performed at follow-up. RESULTS: Twenty-two patients active 13 controls recruited. milk, wheat, soy, eggs, nuts was significantly higher ( P = 0.0002, 0.002, 0.003, 0.012, < 0.001, respectively). Nine (45%) had histological remission (<15 eosinophils per high-power field). Fall median count not statistically significant (50 vs 23; 0.068). did decline by DISCUSSION: egg, present levels EoE, resulting 45% rate. has potential as noninvasive biomarker EoE. Food allergy (FA) is an adverse immunological reaction to a specific food that can trigger wide range of symptoms from mild life-threatening. This caused by different mechanisms, such as IgE-mediated, non-IgE-mediated and mixed IgE-mediated reactions. Its epidemiology has had significant increase in the last decade, more so developed countries. It estimated approximately 2 10% world’s population FA this number appears be increasing also affecting children. The diagnosis complex requires combination tests establish accurate diagnosis. However, treatment based on avoiding intake allergenic food, thus being very difficult at times controlling case accidental exposure. Currently, there are other immunomodulatory treatments allergen immunotherapy or innovative induce tolerance response. important mention research field ongoing clinical trials underway assess safety efficacy these approaches, new pathways used target promote In review, we describe vitro diagnostic tools therapeutic show latest advances management. We conclude although have been made improve therapies for FA, urgent need standardize both that, their totality, they help management FA.

Primary Sjögren’s syndrome (pSS) is an autoimmune disease, with B cell hyperactivation and autoantibody production as its immunological hallmarks. Although the distinction between immunoglobulin G4-related disease (IgG4-RD) pSS, based on presence or absence of certain autoantibodies, seems easy to make, possibility elevated serum IgG4 concentration often similar organ involvement may lead a misdiagnosis. The increased in IgG4-RD not clearly linked pathogenesis IgG-RD it has been suggested that constitute just epiphenomenon. aim this article discuss pSS potential significance for these two diseases.

Abstract Allergy is an ever‐evolving group of disorders, which includes asthma, atopic dermatitis, rhinitis and food allergies that currently affects over 1 billion people worldwide. This disorders has exploded in incidence since around the start 20th century, implying genetics not solely responsible for its development but environmental factors have important role. Here, Fabio Luciani Jonathan Coquet, their role as editors at Immunology & Cell Biology , asked nine prominent researchers field allergy to define term ‘allergy’, discuss environment, nominate most discoveries past decade describe best strategies combat population level going forward.
