Glycerol, a byproduct of biodiesel, has moderate energy but high viscosity, making clean combustion challenging. Quickly evaporating fine fuel sprays mix well with air and burn cleanly efficiently. Unlike conventional air-blast atomizers discharging jet core/film, newly developed swirl burst (SB) injector generates at the injector’s immediate exit, even for high-viscosity fuels, without preheating, using unique two-phase atomization mechanism. It thus resulted in ultra-clean glycerol/methanol (G/M) blends, complete G/M 50/50 ratios by heat release rate (HRR). Lower efficiencies were observed 60/40 70/30, representing crude glycerol. Hence, this study investigates effect premixed methane amount from 0–3 kW, atomizing gas to liquid mass ratio (ALR) on dual-fuel efficiency 60/40-methane 7-kW lab-scale swirl-stabilized turbine combustor facilitate glycerol use. Results show that more increased ALR cause varying flame lift-off height, length, product temperature. Regardless, mainly lean-premixed combustion, near-zero CO NOx emissions (≤2 ppm), ~100% are enabled all cases SB assistance small methane.

Biodiesel is a sustainable and renewable fuel generated from resources, including vegetable oil or animal fats. It thought to be non-toxic that degrades gradually causes no harm the environment. In present study, non-conventional supercritical method for industrial biodiesel production investigated. The refers single-step interesterification reaction between triglycerides methyl acetate resulting in esters of fatty acids triacetin as secondary product. Process flowsheet modeling, using CHEMCAD chemical engineering software, was used an investigation tool. capacity set 25,000 kg/h biodiesel. Methyl requested produced methanol esterification with acetic acid intensified reactive distillation unit. Methanol, turn, obtained synthetic gas derived biomass raw material, process representing new at level solve problems related energy required, storage disposal residual materials, pollution through release pollutants into air. synthesis similar one based on natural gas, consisting three main steps, namely: (i) production, followed by (ii) (iii) purification. Acetic essential product, proposed approach low consumption air emissions, more exactly carbonylation. All processes previously mentioned: (iv) were modeled simulated, leading desired productivity (e.g., kg/h) purity being higher than 99%. Relevant discussions regarding design assumptions used, simulation validation results, well other technical issues (i.e., electricity thermal consumption) system are provided, conclusion route suited application can deliver significant results. outcomes have provided confidence feasibility effectiveness chosen design, making it viable option further development implementation.
