The surface behaviours of humpback whales were studied in the presence a whale-watching vessel at Nosy Be (Madagascar) during activities, order to characterise ethogram these animals. Data collected from July October 2018. Of 75 total trips, observed 68 times and different types aggregations observed: Groups (33.82%), Mother–calf pairs (30.88%), Singles (27.94%), Escorts (7.35%). Individuals exhibited following behaviours: Spouting, Breaching, Head Slap, Tail Throw, Peck Spy-hopping, Logging. Sighting data evaluated by comparing with reported behaviours, vice versa. Among most commonly Spouting Slap more Groups, while Breaching was all associations, exception Singles. In than two individuals, little or no social nor aggressive observed, probably due lack needing attract attention other individuals. This suggests that, breeding season, could represent wintering weaning ground for calves.
