Aim of study was to compare the clinical visual and radiographic diagnostic technique with histological analysis early proximal carious lesions. Materials method. Study group included 96 surfaces (48 teeth obtained from dental extractions for orthodontic or periodontal reasons). The were examined by examen examen. A assessment performed as gold standard. sensivity specificity values calculated analysed using McNemar test, significance threshold p 0.05. Results. Significant statistical differences when comparing both sensitivity radiological detection method compared (p=0.0001 0.05). inter-examiner reproducibility regarding examination 0.983 0.814, respectively, statistically significant. Conclusions. conventional has proven have a significantly higher validity in detecting incipient lesions case shown very high level agreement, than Conventional radiography can be successfully used diagnosing lesions, but always corroborated data through examination.

The development of laser technology has revolutionized dentistry, offering complementary and alternative approaches to traditional techniques. Lasers have been successfully integrated into various dental procedures, enhancing treatment outcomes patient care. Several types lasers can increase the acid resistance enamel, thus preventing caries. Laser fluorescence utilized for pre-operative diagnosis caries, enabling early detection effective planning. therapeutic application in caries aligns with contemporary philosophy minimally invasive procedures. Clinicians use Doppler flowmetry as a supplementary tool pulp vitality testing by detecting pulpal blood flow. are also employed pulp-related interventions, such managing dentine hypersensitivity performing root canal therapy. These procedures benefit from precision reduced invasiveness provided technology. Furthermore, serves an additional subgingival calculus detection. High-power low-power used both nonsurgical surgical therapies treat periodontal peri-implant diseases, oral mucosa conditions, even cancer based on their specific properties. accelerate bone regeneration, promote adhesive strength, remove ceramic brackets. In summary, significantly impacted dentistry facilitating diagnosis, treatments, precise operative ultimately improving expanding scope practice.

The early detection of dental caries is crucial for successful care. New intraoral scanners using near-infrared irradiation (NIRI) technology track preventive lesions without ionizing radiation. This study aimed to evaluate the performance (IOSs) in detecting proximal primary posterior teeth, compared conventional methods such as loupes-assisted clinical exams and bitewing (BW) radiography. Fifteen examined tooth surfaces were used produce a total 60 scores by restorative dentistry consultant (RDC). categorized into caries-free (n = 5 × 4 exam methods) carious 10 subgroups. Reference surface recorded. Investigators (RDCs recent graduates (RDGs)) trained calibrated. Inter-examiner agreement, agreement with reference, specificity, sensitivity checked. results showed that specificity differed between diagnostic tests. best all investigated reference was found device (ĸ 0.87) radiography 1.00). Introduction: Clinical manifestations of molar incisor hypomineralization (MIH) can be confused with other developmental defects the enamel, complicating early diagnosis and appropriate treatment intervention. Case Report: This case report demonstrated that signs suggestive MIH defect in first molars were possible to identified on panoramic radiographs 3D cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) scans, before teeth erupted. The was proven eruption tooth. Conclusion: Panoramic radiography CBCT radiological alternative for identification MIH. However, should not routinely indicated due its higher radiation dose.

ABSTRACT Background: Smart burs and chemo-mechanical caries removal (CMCR) systems are considered viable alternatives to traditional cavity preparation techniques. Numerous clinical studies have been conducted assess compare the impact of these two techniques; nevertheless, demonstrated considerable variability in their findings. The objectives present systematic review meta-analysis were efficacy, efficiency, patient comfort CMCR smart primary molars. Methodology: followed Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews Meta-Analysis 2020 guidelines. Ten electronic databases up May 30, 2024 searched vivo comparing at least one system with terms and/or microbiological efficiency (time taken complete removal), Reviews, abstracts, case series reports, letters editor, animal studies, unpublished data excluded. risk bias (ROB) assessment was using ROBINS-I Cochrane ROB tools nonrandomized randomized respectively. analysis performed Review Manager version 5.4.1 provided by Collaboration. standardized mean difference served as summary a random effects model ( P < 0.05). Results: A total 154 identified screened out which five included qualitative synthesis four deemed suitable meta-analysis. overall quality revealed presence moderate-to-low ROB. extracted from tabulated. odds ratio efficacy (0.43 [95% confidence interval (CI) = 0.13–1.49]) showed no statistically significant between (Z 1.33 0.18). Background and Objectives: Dental caries is a preventable, reversible disease in its early stages. This study evaluated the intra-rater agreement of International Caries Assessment Detection System (ICDAS) scores with Medit i500® Omnicam® scanners versus traditional clinical examinations inter-rater using among senior dentists dental students between these two groups. Materials Methods: A total 24 patients aged 21 34 years, randomly selected from interns, underwent four (three intraoral scans one examination), corresponding ICDAS were recorded by rater out 31 available examiners. The examination team consisted students, less than 3 more 5 years experience. following inter- tests for ordinal data chosen: Fleiss' kappa coefficient, Cohen's weighted kappa, inter-class correlations. Results: For all techniques, there was statistically significant experienced raters (p < 0.05). highest positive interclass correlation obtained 288 observations dentists: ICC = 0.969 (95% CI 0.949-0.981). Conclusions: Intra-rater reliability excellent Omnicam compared to exams conducted but moderate i500. Although poor it dentists.

Objective This study aimed to assess the validity of DIAGNOdent as a diagnostic device for detection secondary dental caries underneath different types restorations. Methods A total 60 extracted human permanent molars were used in this experimental (30 sound teeth and 30 with proximal caries); 20 (10 10 carious) randomly allocated into one three restoration groups: composite, amalgam, or resin-modified glass ionomer (RMGI). All examined using both KaVo Classic digital radiographic sensors. Results In composite-restored teeth, showed excellent sensitivity (90%) specificity (90%). On other hand, radiography had high (80%) poor (20%). amalgam-restored low (30%) (100%), while radiographs good (70%) (30%). RMGI-restored (100%) 70% specificity, Conclusions superior results detecting lesions composite RMGI restorations when compared radiography. emerged preferable method amalgam Based on our findings, can be clinics early diagnosis hidden
