Abstract Background ChatGPT, a chatbot launched by OpenAI in November 2022, has generated both excitement and concern within the healthcare education, research, practice communities. This study aimed to explore knowledge, perceptions, attitudes, practices of undergraduate medical students regarding use ChatGPT similar chatbots their academic work. Methods An anonymous, structured questionnaire was developed using Google Forms administered as part cross-sectional study. The survey targeted from four governorates Egypt. link distributed through social media platforms, including Facebook WhatsApp. comprised sections: socio-demographic characteristics, practices. Results achieved response rate 96%, with 614 out 640 approached participating. Prior study, most respondents (78.5%) had personal experience it. Overall, demonstrated positive toward mean scores exceeding 3 for all three variables: 3.99 ± 0.60 3.01 0.46 3.55 0.55 In general, exhibited high degree trust model, approximately half trusting accuracy reliability information provided ChatGPT. However, more than two-thirds expressed apprehension about its potential misuse around 60% were concerned might generate on complex topics. Conclusions Medical show strong interest purposes but have concerns education. AI tools should follow ethical guidelines set institutions, regular updates keep pace technological progress. Abstract The rapid incorporation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies into higher education is shifting the focus toward understanding students’ perspectives and factors affecting adoption AI chatbots to maximize their use in online virtual educational environments. This study fills an important gap literature by examining direct mediated relationships key constructs such as perceived usefulness, ease use, technical competency chatbot usage. aims investigate mindsets regarding adopting for effectiveness learning education. Data were collected from 429 university students analyzed using partial least squares-based structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) technique. results revealed that usefulness (PU), (PEU), tech (TC) have a significant impact on capability. Subjective norm (SN) has no capability significantly influences effectiveness. findings indicated mediates effect PU, PEU, TC chatbots; however, there mediating relationship between SN Facilitating conditions moderate PU research addresses new insight within context education, particularly demonstrating moderating function tech-competent concepts.
