Hydrogen Generation via Catalytic Ammonia Borane Hydrolysis: A Patent Overview DOI Creative Commons

Koyo Matsuda

Published: June 11, 2024

Hydrogen is one of the clean energies that will play an important role in energy selection for coming low-carbon society. Ammonia borane (NH3BH3, abbreviated hereafter as AB) considered a promising hydrogen storage material due to its high content (19.6 wt%), stability under ambient conditions (white powder), and favorable properties dehydrogenation. AB can release via pyrolysis, alcoholysis, hydrolysis, etc. Among these, hydrolysis safe effective route, it proceeds mild presence appropriate catalyst without need additional heat sources. For practical application, develop efficient further improves hydrolytic dehydrogenation AB. Many papers reviews have been published, suggesting research at advanced stage. On other hand, since new technologies are often patented before they put into use, status patent publication significant interest. This mini-review analyzes applications published up 2023 on generation catalytic hydrolysis. The search yielded 99 publications, which were examined not only by country institution but also two representative types catalysts derived from noble metal (abbreviated NM) non-NM. Based analysis, future development was discussed.

Abstract Thermal energy storage (TES) plays a pivotal role in integrating renewable energy. Nevertheless, there are major challenges the diffusion of TES such as selection optimum system size, integration, and optimization. A key target for using is to increase thermal self-sufficiency building or an entire district. self-sufficiency, unlike total concerns space heating domestic hot water exclusively. Thus, it measures ability meet its demand from local sources. important metric practitioners researchers design, optimization, evaluation systems, especially when considering TES. Unfortunately, no comprehensive method exists literature determining with Energy profiles simulations required determine it. This article aims close this gap presents new evaluating Using approach, upper lower limits derived various heat capacities annual demands, demonstrating impact on system. mathematical model applied case study single-family house illustrates effect different self-sufficiency: small significantly improves 20-kWh reaching 50% while higher values require exponentially larger capacities.

Abstract The need to ‘rethink’ the concept of Distribution, both at planning and operational levels, arises from emergence Distributed Generation paradigm, mostly installed in LV networks. existing arrangements for management, protection control distribution networks are typically inadequate this ever-increasing presence Generation. Consequently, national international grid codes have been updated requiring distributed generators be involved by supplying ancillary services, such as voltage frequency regulation. In context, Italian Standards, particular CEI 0–21, require hybrid inverters residential systems, which usually only setup supply active power unity factor, include also possibility being able absorb or reactive energy. This allows limit over / under voltages problems. To aim, inverter manufacturers introduced set factor. These new capabilities exploited paper order study performance with variation considering inductive capacitive behaviour. particular, presented focuses on experimental tests a inverter-based system use aim evaluating dependence efficiency Based measured values, Matlab/Simulink simulator has developed modelling system, using found dependence. main is evaluate systems participate regulation services case factor different unity.
