The prolonged operation of thermal power plants inevitably leads to component aging and a gradual decline in performance. This deterioration increases the gross heat rate reduces electrical output, resulting higher fuel consumption lower electricity production. Consequently, these issues can cause significant financial losses threaten plant’s competitiveness. paper presents comprehensive methodology for improving performance existing plants. consists two crucial elements: steam turbine testing numerical simulation process. tests should be ensure accurate measurements reliable conclusions. developed method process enables calculation overall performance, like specific efficiency, as well individual components under various operational conditions. Comparing results with experimental data effectively identify problems. Based on findings, targeted overhauls other corrective measures substantially improve efficiency system was demonstrated through case study 120 MW coal-fired turbine. test revealed that it consumes more than 10% additional compared its original design specifications. analysis identified recommended improvement measures, focusing exclusively set while excluding boiler.
