Induction motors make up approximately 80% of the electric in railway sector due to their robustness, high efficiency, and low maintenance cost. Nevertheless, these are subject failures which can lead costly downtime service interruptions. In recent years, there has been a growing interest developing fault diagnosis systems for traction using advanced non-invasive detection data analysis techniques. Implementing methods applications prove challenging variable speed low-load operating conditions, as well use inverter-fed motor drives. This comprehensive review paper summarizes general induction machines. This article mathematically describes a three-phase, four-wire circuit in the case of nonlinear, unbalanced load, asymmetry power source with periodic, non-sinusoidal waveform. description uses Currents' Physical Components (CPC) theory for three-phase circuits. Determining energy flow between and load is possible by decomposing phase current into components depending on physical nature phenomena this circuit. Mathematical relationships were determined enabling decomposition direction causes their creation. A calculation example using results has been presented. The presented computational concept important mathematical analyzes circuits nonlinear receivers. Knowing phenomena, it to perform measures that limit value supplying load.
