The treatment of sewage wastewater generates a substantial amount sludge, which poses significant ecotoxicological and environmental challenges. Managing this sludge is critical, as traditional disposal methods carry risks: agricultural use can lead to contamination, while landfill raises concerns about solid waste management the preservation sites. Our research focuses on converting urban into activated carbon. We employed various techniques characterize NaOH-activated biochar, including infrared (IR) analysis. BET analysis revealed specific surface area 62.35 m 2 /g. also assessed biochar for its effectiveness in adsorbing brilliant cresyl bleu (BCB). SSE error calculations indicated first-order adsorption, isotherms suggested better fit with Sips model, indicating heterogeneous adsorption an ns value 0.95. study highlights dyes such BCB.

Basic data on the properties and volume of municipal (urban) sewage sludge (MSS) formation in metropolitan region Ukraine, which is a product urban treatment, are presented. The analysis current state ways MSS management makes it possible to distinguish following main directions: physical-mechanical, physical-chemical, biological combined methods handling it. its processing products (primarily biocoal (biochar, hydrochar), obtained as result incineration, pyrolysis, gasification, or hydrothermal carbonization) used both individually combination with other substances agriculture (fertilizers; chemical soil melioration); earthworks (reinforcement weak expansive soils, use tamponage compositions, arrangement embankments, leveling terrain); road construction (bitumen, asphalt concrete mixtures); building materials (cement clinker, cement, concrete, solutions, bricks, blocks, artificial stone, glass, glass ceramics, expanded clay (ceramsite), aggregate); protective coatings (paints, shotcrete, thermal insulation materials); sorbents, catalysts their carriers; compressed fuel; (pigments, electrodes electric sources, for storing certain substances, coagulants, inoculants, zeolites, fibres); chemical-thermal processes production ash, biochar, pyrolysis liquid synthesis gas fuel, raw means purposes. Currently, most expedient disposal direct forestry, industry, well fuel energy sector. It should be noted that due unpredictable qualitative quantitative composition MSS, there no single recommendations effective disposal; however, existing promising technologies analogues make choose combine various under conditions. The United Nations proposed the Sustainable Development Goals with aim to make human settlements in cities resilient and sustainable. excessive discharge of urban waste including sludge garden can pollute groundwater lead emission greenhouse gases (e.g., CH4). proper recycling is essential for responsible consumption production, reducing environmental pollution addressing climate change issues. This study aimed prepare biochar high adsorption amounts iodine using peach wood from waste. was conducted examine variations mass ratio between (2/1, 1/1, 1/2) as well pyrolysis temperatures (300 °C, 500 700 °C) on carbon yield capacities biochar. Hydrothermal is zero-waste technology that produces renewable bioenergy substituting fossil fuels non-renewable resources. Processing 60,000 t/y with this method resulted in total amount 456,780 GJ/y. This means over 60% energy produced could be substituted bioenergy.
