The European Union’s energy policy, which aims to achieve climate neutrality by 2050, requires substantial changes in the structure of sources used for power generation. paper considers possibilities increasing pace Polish system transformation replacing coal with renewable using storage. It is demonstrated that analyzed period until 2040 it will be possible ensure required level system’s supply reliability supporting assessment was carried out based on LOLE and LOLP indicators, selecting such a way hourly demand characteristic adopted year, less than 3 h. capacity storage systems depend power. results analyses indicate linear trend growth energy, nuclear plants total 8.8 GW have installed system. However, significant rise decommissioning units, balancing other dominant share insufficient. therefore necessary use above 11 GWh 2 GW.
