The fruit of Hovenia dulcis Thunb. (HD) is renowned for its medicinal properties and rich in bioactive compounds, traditionally used East Asian medicine as a natural antidote alcohol intoxication. A randomized, double-blind, crossover, placebo (PLA)-controlled clinical trial was conducted to compare the effects beverages containing 0.475% HD (HDB), combined with 0.1% Pueraria lobata extract (HDPB), 0.02% glutathione yeast (HDGB) PLA on symptoms hangover. Subjects (n = 30) were randomized into six test groups consuming three beverages, including PLA. After ingestion, blood acetaldehyde concentrations measured at 0, 0.25, 0.5, 1, 2, 4, 6, 15 h post-alcohol consumption. No significant differences hematology tests vital signs observed amongst treatment groups; however, 0.5 6 h, HDB HDPB significantly lower compared group (p < 0.05). Additionally, showed values than after These findings suggest that may aid detoxification limit accumulation. This indicates potential functional food ingredient alleviating hangover symptoms.
