The well-established, health-benefitting effects of grapevines and derivatives (wines vinification byproducts) are attributed to their antioxidant phenolic content. dearth an efficient method for the simultaneous quantitation phenolics prompted us develop a novel utilizing triple quadrupole LC–MS/MS accurate, fast, 32 most abundant grapevine phenolics. fully validated, is capable simultaneously record quantitative presence 12 acids, 19 polyphenols coniferyl aldehyde (a compound extracted from cork stoppers into wines) applicable determination content grape berries, pomace, stems wines. Its utility was demonstrated three native Greek varieties, two red (Mandilaria Aidani mavro) one white (Monemvassia). Results herein highlighted Monemvassia variety as particularly rich in such flavonol monomer (+)-catechin (387 mg/kg) dimer procyanidin B1 (400 along with stilbene phytoalexin trans-resveratrol (24 mg/kg). These results line TPC, TFC TTC determined capacities, highlighting this Vitis vinifera potentially exploitable source

Reduction of food waste provides important environmental and economic benefits. Valorization by-products into edible materials is one the most interesting strategies in this field. However, wastes can contain chemical contaminants or potential pathogens that may endanger consumers' health. Therefore, assuring quality safety these utmost importance to take advantage valorization strategy. In review, evaluation valorized intended for human animal consumption has been revised critically discussed. With aim, relevant applications livestock feed food, nutraceutical, pharmaceutical industries, which were assessed have compiled. Moreover, common analysis removal undesirable substances pointed out, as well requirements established by current regulations. Abstract Food loss and waste is a major issue affecting food security, environmental pollution, producer profitability, consumer prices, climate change. About 1.3 billion tons of products are yearly lost globally, with China producing approximately 20 million soybean dregs annually. Here, we review agricultural byproducts emphasis on the strategies to convert this into valuable materials. Byproducts can be used for animal plant nutrition, biogas production, food, extraction oils bioactive substances, production vinegar, wine, edible coatings organic fertilizers. For instance, compounds represent 8–20% apple pomace, 5–17% orange peel, 10–25% grape seeds, 3–15% pomegranate 2–13% date palm seeds. Similarly, pharmaceutical industry uses 6.5% total output gelatin derived from fish bones skin. Animals fed peel olive pomace improved concentration deoxyribonucleic acid protein, litter size, milk yield, nest characteristics. Biogas amounts 57.1% using residue, 53.7% papaya 49.1% sugarcane bagasse.

Grape pomace is commonly considered a waste product of monovarietal red wine production. Methods: HPLC-DAD analysis was performed to determine the polyphenol and flavonoid contents all extracts obtained from Montepulciano d'Abruzzo grape skins whereas, GC-MS applied determination fatty acid composition in seeds oil. Biological characterization involves antioxidant antimicrobial assays for oil; Their ability inhibit α-glucosidase, α-amylase, α-tyrosinase, ChE enzymes also detected, together with anti-inflammatory activity on wine, skin extracts, oil by lipoxygenase (5-LOX) LPS-stimulated macrophage release assays. Data indicate significative polyphenols content (199.31 ± 7.21 mgGAE/g), (CUPRAC assay (1036.98 mgTE/g)), enzymatic inhibition (α-tyrosinase: 151.30 1.20 mgKAE/g) activities wine-organic extract 2, while decoction higher than those reported three bacterial strains. Interestingly only dealcoholized wine-aqueous exerts inhibitory effects α-glucosidase (20.62 0.23 mmolACAE/g 19.81 0.03 mmolACAE/g, respectively), rich oleic linoleic acids. These results confirm strong properties pomace, suggesting potential use this as functional food supplements human diet cosmeceutics.
