Hydrogels containing essential oils are promising formulations for use with antimicrobial purposes. Therefore, this study was proposed to verify the anti-candida potential of hydrogels clove oil. For purpose, oil and were used in tests against yeasts Candida parapsilosis, albicans, krusei. The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) determined by microdilution method. Furthermore, fungistatic activity evaluated time-kill curve assay. MIC assays indicated that presented a 32 µg/mL after 48 hours; compound observed have greater efficacy than crude kill indicate more effective, 64 all strains tested 24 hours. Hydrogel made sodium alginate, oil, Physicochemical then determined, microbiological stability fungi bacteria up 60 days maintenance hydrogel at temperature 30°C (±2), as recommended Brazilian Pharmacopoeia. effectively controlled species' growth. results suggest is antifungal agent spp—infections, especially increasing resistance conventional treatments.
