With the continuous development of urban construction, contradiction between human settlement and natural environment is becoming increasingly prominent. Increasing green area improving local microclimate through roof planting can effectively alleviate this contradiction. On basis research on current situation challenging problems roofs, a comprehensive study stab-resistance, waterproofing, irrigation plant landscape combined with designed case. Research results show that simple in has high resistance to root thorns, take into account function aesthetics design, saves water by more than 60%, which will help popularization promotion roofs.

The advantages of green roofs and solar panels are numerous, but in dry periods, can place urban water resources under pressure, the efficiency be affected negatively by high temperatures. In this context, our analysis investigated bio-solar evaluated impact on panel electricity production roof consumption. assessment was conducted through simulation a selected case study located Cosenza, city with Mediterranean climate, covering 10% to 60% roof. Analyses were performed power outputs four kinds photovoltaic panels: polycrystalline, monocrystalline, bifacial, Passivated Emitter Rear Contact (PERC). energy shade frequencies simulated using PVGIS 5.3 PVSOL 2024 R3. (PV) consumption image processing developed code MATLAB R2024b. Moreover, water–energy interconnections systems assessed dynamic model Vensim PLE 10.2.1. results revealed that reduced 30.8% coverage area 60%. However, PV enhanced about 4% at its maximum rate 50%. This investigation demonstrates benefits roofs, which generate more require less irrigation.

São Paulo City, Brazil, a densely urbanized area in tropical climate region, is facing increasing challenges from flooding. However, promising solution has emerged the form of Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) infrastructure, surpassing traditional grey technology flood mitigation. This article examines effectiveness green roofs reducing risks and highlights their superiority over conventional approaches. We analyzed direct impacts surface permeabilization public areas (sidewalks, streets, squares) private (urban lots, subdivisions) on runoff volume peak flow Aricanduva River basin city. used thoroughly validated hydrological model to compare interference land use watershed between infrastructure type called Green Roof (GR) gray Permeable Pavement (PP), terms efficiency mitigating floods. The water level simulations for varying with GR or PP covered wide range, allowing situations above below canal overflow level, which provided good distinction impact boundary conditions. Overall, we observed positive response, reduction proportional increase permeable area, consequently, within contributing area. As main contribution, performance calculated variation was remarkably superior requiring smaller coverage prevent achieve equivalent efficiency. It worth noting that substitution approximately 24% roof prevented overflow, notably lower than required 40% interference. reinforce relevance as an option mitigate intense effects urban and, more importantly, paves way other NBS same principles environmental co-benefits work individually combination.
