Surface modification of ZnO nanoparticles (NPs) is considered as a key for enhanced sustained generation reactive oxygen species (ROS) in the reaction medium improving photocatalytic degradation phenomenon. Here, we present simple chemical method synthesizing carbon dots (CDs) embedded on surface NPs denoted ZnO/CD nanocomposites (NCs) photocatalyst efficient sunlight-driven ciprofloxacin (CIP). The X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) studies confirmed formation needle-shaped clusters NCs. band gaps NCs pristine are determined from Tauc's plot. Under optimized conditions, batch CIP at pH 6.3 ± 0.1 treated with 0.6 g L–1 revealed 98% 110 min by harnessing longer UV visible components sunlight. rate was 0.30 min–1, which 3 times higher than that NPs. attributed to improved mobility charge carriers ROS. This scavenging hydroxyl radicals superoxide radicals. ROS inhibition carrier recombination facilitated CDs applicability demonstrated five cycles repeatability studies. After operation, structure morphology used were stable, XRD, TEM, Fourier transform infrared It concluded photocatalysts CIP, model emerging contaminant.

Pharmaceutical contamination threatens both humans and the environment, several technologies have been adapted for removal of pharmaceuticals. The coagulation-flocculation process demonstrates a feasible solution pharmaceutical removal. However, chemical coagulation has its drawbacks, such as excessive toxic sludge production high cost. To overcome these shortcomings, feasibility natural-based coagulants, due to their biodegradability, safety, availability, investigated by researchers. This review presented recent advances using natural coagulants compound from aqueous solutions. main mechanisms water wastewater are charge neutralization polymer bridges. Natural extracted plants more commonly than those animals affordability. competitive in terms performance environmental sustainability. Developing reliable extraction method is required, therefore further investigation essential obtain complete insight regarding effect factors during coagulants. Finally, indirect application an step implementing green treatment technologies.

The release of common medications and illegal drugs into the environment could be potentially harmful to ecosystem hamper behavior growth plants animals. These pollutants gain access water through sewage factory discharges have been found exceed safety limits in bodies. Therefore, there is an urgent need for improved wastewater purification systems. In this study, semiconductor-based heterojunction photocatalyst CuInS2/CeO2, synthesized a facile solvothermal process, was explored photocatalytic degradation ciprofloxacin, commonly used antibiotics. Studies on electronic properties revealed interfacial characteristics that were suitable enhanced charge carrier separation transport potential S-scheme transfer mechanism. achieved ∼90% efficiency CIP compared 60% 12% reported CeO2 CuInS2, respectively. This shows improvement activity, which results from heterojunction. Further investigation mechanism radical scavenging experiments identified •OH, O2•–, h+ as active species contributing catalyst's efficacy.
