Long-term exposure to urban dust containing potentially toxic elements (PTEs) poses detrimental impacts on human health. However, studies estimating health risks in dusts from a global perspective are scarce. We evaluated data for twelve PTEs across 59 countries 463 published articles, including their concentrations, input sources, and probabilistic found that 34.1 60.3% of those investigated have been heavily contaminated with As Cd, respectively. The was significantly correlated economic structure due emissions industrial activities traffic being the major sources. Based Monte Carlo simulation, we mean hazard index below safe threshold (1.0) could still cause non-negligible Arsenic Cr were threatening health, relatively high risk levels observed cities China, Korea, Chile, Malaysia, Australia. Importantly, our analysis suggested threaten approximately 92 million adults 280 children worldwide. Overall, study provides important foundational understanding guidance policy decision-making reduce potential associated PTE promote sustainable development economies.

Children with asthma who live in urban neighborhoods experience a disproportionately high burden, increased incident and symptoms, exacerbations, acute visits hospitalizations for asthma. There are multiple exposures that contribute to pediatric morbidity, including exposure pest allergens, mold, endotoxin, indoor outdoor air pollution. living also inequities social determinants of health, such as poverty, substandard housing quality, rates obesity, chronic stress. The wide use of hazardous formaldehyde (CH2O) in disinfections, adhesives and wood-based furniture leads to undesirable emissions indoor environments. This is highly problematic as a toxic compound present both liquid gaseous form. majority atmospheric derive from microbial plant decomposition. However, plants also reversibly absorb released for example structural materials such furniture, thus offering beneficial phytoremediation properties. Here we provide the first comprehensive review metabolism, physiology remediation focusing on release absorption including species-specific differences maintaining environmental air quality standards. Abstract The exposome depicts the total exposures in lifetime of an organism. Human comprises from environmental and humanistic sources. Biological, chemical, physical pose potential health threats, especially to susceptible populations. Although still its nascent stage, we are beginning recognize vast dynamic nature exposome. In this review, systematically summarize biological chemical exposomes three broad matrices—air, soil, water; each contains several distinct subcategories, along with a brief introduction Disease‐related highlighted, humans also major source disease‐related exposures. We further discuss interactions between biological, exposomes. Finally, propose list outstanding challenges under research framework that need be addressed move field forward. Taken together, present detailed landscape prime researchers join exciting new field.

Both particulate matter and gaseous components of air pollution have already been shown to increase cardiovascular mortality in numerous studies. It is, however, important note that on their way the bloodstream polluting agents pass lung barrier. Inside alveoli, particles approximately 0.4-1 μm are most efficiently deposited commonly undergo phagocytosis by macrophages. Not only soluble agents, but also fine enough leave alveoli enter this finite part endothelium, reaching thus higher concentrations close proximity endothelium. Additionally, deposits linger direct endothelial cells may induce inflammation, immune responses, influence barrier dysfunction increasing PM bioavailability positive feedback. The presented discussion provides an overview possible indoor how endothelium is influenced, with emphasis vascular clinical perspectives.
