The global problem of microplastics in the environment is “inspiring” scientists to find environmentally friendly and economically viable methods remove these pollutants from environment. Advanced oxidation processes are among most promising methods. In this work, potential Fenton, photo-Fenton, Fenton-like for degradation low-density polyethylene (LDPE), polypropylene (PP), poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) water suspensions was investigated. influence three parameters on efficiency process tested: pH medium (3–7), mass added iron (10–50 times less than microplastics), H2O2 (5–25 more iron). effectiveness treatment monitored by FTIR-ATR spectroscopy. Microplastics are considered an emerging environmental pollutant due to their ubiquitous presence in the environment. However, potential impact of microplastics on human health warrants further research. Recent studies have reported neurobehavioral and neurotoxic effects marine rodent models; however, underlying cellular physiology mammals remains unclear. Herein, we exposed neural stem cells cell-derived astrocytes, oligodendrocytes, neurons various sizes concentrations polystyrene nano- microplastics. We investigated uptake, cytotoxicity, alteration gene expression through transcriptome profiling. The cell type most affected by decreased viability were astrocytes after 7 days repeated exposure. Transcriptional analysis showed that 1274 genes differentially expressed 500 nm microplastics, but only 531 altered 50 nanoplastics. Abstract The effects of plastic debris on the environment and plant, animal, human health are a global challenge, with micro(nano)plastics (MNPs) being main focus. The accumulation of microplastics (MPs) in the environment as well their presence foods and humans highlight urgent need for studies on effects these particles humans.
