Abstract Professional social networking sites like LinkedIn have opened up immense opportunities for job seekers to manage their self-presentations online create a favorable impression on others. The present study aimed examine how presentation of jobseekers was affected by gender. It investigated gender differences profiles self-promotion, agency/communion-related self-descriptors, and emotional expressivity in portraits, among recent MBA graduates. sample comprised 669 users (337 men 332 women), matched current industry, graduation year, institute, age, experience, geographic location. Self-promotion metrics included length ‘about’ section, number skills, awards honors the listed profiles. We also counted agentic communal words (Pietraszkiewicz et al. Eur J Soc Psychol 49:871–887, 2018) users’ personal summaries. Emotional measures full smile, head-canting, eye contact seen as independently rated 10 raters. Results using chi-square analysis demonstrated that self-promoted more than women. Women’s portraits showed head canting smiling men, although no difference found contact. Significant were between women use communion words, but not words. Such gendered language may place at disadvantage relative seeking jobs. Interpretation findings implications are discussed.

To investigate the association between subjective socioeconomic status (SES) and a) frequency daily duration of social media use, b) self-reported negative experiences on platforms.The present study is based cross-sectional school-based "LifeOnSoMe"-study (N = 3,415) recruiting high school students aged 16 years or more in Bergen, Norway. Subjective SES was independent variable measured by perceived family affluence. The dependent variables included amount eight different types media. Purpose Drawing on social identity theory (SIT), the current research highlights sequential mediation effects of customer interaction, functional value and hedonic in linking customer-brand identification self-representation with online brand advocacy (OBA). Design/methodology/approach Data were gathered from 483 Egyptian 595 non-Egyptian Aliexpress shopping platform customers, then analyzed using SmartPLS 4.
