Today?s children spend less and time on free, unstructured play, especially outdoor due to their numerous commitments lack of free time. Many interdisciplinary studies indicate that the play quality leisure are closely linked negative effects digital technology. The inappropriate excessive frequency technology use has a significant impact well-being, i.e. healthy growth, development, early school-age children. study involved third sixth grade students (N=155) from primary school in city Rijeka (Croatia). Data was collected using questionnaire. Descriptive analyses, factor correlation analyses as well Kruskal-Wallis?s test hierarchical multiregression analysis were conducted. Attitudes Toward Outdoor Play Scale (ATOP scale), an adapted version scale, used measuring instrument. results confirmed reliability validity instrument used. Two subscales ATOP scale named ?Benefits? ?Fears? identified with acceptable measurement properties model fit indices. show spent technologies increases while playing outdoors assessments benefits decrease children?s age grade.

This study investigated whether children's nature interactions that are embodied (versus only visual) would be associated with a state of being highly aware without thought, including in "the present moment," and/or feeling connected to something beyond the self. We refer this as Presence nature. Using an interaction pattern approach, we coded written narratives from 127 Girl Scouts (8-11 years old) about recent meaningful experience and, through questionnaire designed for study, assessed degree which participants experienced experience. Exploratory analyses indicated who enacted (e.g., "making snowman," "wrapping arms around tree," "talking chickens") reported greater sense than whose relied solely on vision "seeing snow," moss," "watching pileated woodpecker"). Discussion focuses implications Scouts' environmental education.

Importance Environmental heat and cold exposure (EHCE) remains the principal preventable cause of morbidity mortality in children adolescents globally. Objective To report EHCE-related burden analyze its temporal trends among from 1990 to 2019. Design, Setting, Participants This repeated cross-sectional study used data Global Burden Disease Study 2019, which encompassed 204 countries territories Children aged 0 19 years were included study. Data analysis occurred December 2023 March 2024. Exposure EHCE January Main Outcomes Measures The primary outcomes cases rates incidence, prevalence, mortality, disability-adjusted life-years (DALYs), average annual percentage changes (AAPCs). these metrics also analyzed by sex, age, sociodemographic index (SDI), is a comprehensive indicator socioeconomic status country or region. A linear regression model was calculate AAPCs joinpoint identify changed significantly. Results From DALYs showed downward trend However, an upward incidence prevalence detected between 2010 2019 (incidence AAPC, 1.46; 95% CI, 1.05-1.87; 1.25; 1.01-1.50). Regionally, although decreasing most regions there still some with increasing (Southern sub-Saharan Africa 0.23; 0.01-0.44). In higher low SDI levels. Additionally, varied according sex age. Conclusions Relevance this study, global increase observed since 2010. Furthermore, low-SDI regions, bear brunt climate crisis, disproportionately impacted. suggests that future responses change crises should emphasize health equity, implies vulnerable populations, such as adolescents, be given priority allocation resources address change.

Participants were 107 children (3–5 years) their parents from Edmonton, Canada, surrounding areas. Children's OP was measured via a parental questionnaire lux feature ActiGraph accelerometers (n=98). Correlates various levels socioecological framework measured. Children had significantly higher summer/fall months (versus winter months), on weekend days weekdays), when parental-reported device-measured). Parental age positively associated with children's days, temperature months. Higher likelihood participating ≥30 minutes/day device-based <30 minutes/day). Implementing interventions to promote all weather, week, may help reverse declining trend OP.
