Plastic materials that are less than 5 mm in size defined as Microplastics (MPs). MPs intentionally produced called primary MPs; however, the most abundant type environment consists of remainder created by fragmentation large plastic debris through physical, chemical, and oxidative processes, which secondary MPs. Due to their abundance environment, poor degradability, toxicological properties, negative impact on aquatic terrestrial organisms, including humans, MP pollution has become a global environmental issue. Combatting requires both remediation preventive measures. Although is must, considering where technology stands today, it may take long time make happen. Prevention, other hand, can be should done now. However, effectiveness measures depends heavily how well escape routes researched understood. In this research, we argue such (rather, loopholes) exist not only due mismanaged waste, but also cracks current waste management systems. One known loophole facilitated wastewater treatment plants (WWTP). The inability existing WWTP retain finer MPs, finally released water bodies together with treated wastewater, along return captured larger back landfills release into land applications, few examples. Organic composting upcycling incineration ash provide pathways. addition, important understand plastics circulation (active use idling) responsible for producing regular wear tear. Closing these loopholes best attempted policy interventions.

Plastic pollution is becoming a worldwide crisis. It can be found in all environmental matrices, from the seas to oceans, dry land air we breathe. Because of various types plastic polymers and waste degradation methods, particles are exposed quite diverse. Plants animals continuously them, as top food chain, humans well. There numerous studies that confirm toxicity these contaminants, yet there still significant vacuum their epigenetics effects gene expression modifications. Here collect published date on modulation induced by micro nanoplastics. Although data scarce, it evident micro- nanoplastics, whether acutely or chronically administered, do indeed cause such changes model organisms. A future challenge represented continuing deepening better define molecular mechanisms underlying observed toxic above translate results understand impact health.
