Background: Challenges of using geographic information systems (GIS) in public health monitoring are considered. Objective: To review scientific literature on application as a tool used to control the sanitary and epidemiological state environment, including water bodies, care. Methods: We studied conceptual apparatus system, analyzed publications describing use this hygienic surveillance bodies prospects for development improvement system. examined topical papers published 2008–2022 found searchable electronic databases (Web Science, Scopus, PubMed, eLIBRARY, ResearchGate) following keywords: system (GIS), control, health, water. Of 154 initially identified sources, we selected 53 experience by ministries, federal executive higher educational institutions, also seven regulatory documents, directly or indirectly regulating work systems. Results discussion: This considers possibility model coordinating activities local regional priority issues related protection. The case is considered single coordination center that ensures accumulation, analysis visualization biological contamination bodies. Along with importance GIS, part devoted examples implementation shortcomings existing tools, emphasizing necessity create new “unified” software product able provide “effective” consolidation safety resources. Conclusion: A not only an effective storing, systematizing analyzing incoming but one modern techniques solving such practical problem feasibility quality protection population source.
