Throughout more than 100 years of its history palynology has become an independent discipline that is being applied in various fields from palaeoecology, aerobiology, forensic sciences to taxonomy. In recent years, navigation has attracted widespread attention across various fields, such as geomatics, robotics, photogrammetry, and transportation. Modeling the environment is a key step in building successful services. While traditional systems have relied solely on 2D data, advancements 3D sensing technology made more data available, enabling realistic environmental modeling. This paper primarily focuses voxel-based reviews existing literature that covers aspects of using voxel or models to support navigation.
