In modern post-transition societies, we are reproducing later and living longer. While the impact of age on female reproductive function has been well studied, much less is known about intersection male reproduction. Our current understanding that advancing brings forth a progressive decline in fertility accompanied by reduction circulating testosterone levels appearance age-dependent pathologies including benign prostatic hypertrophy erectile dysfunction. Paternal ageing also associated with profound increase sperm DNA damage, multiple epigenetic changes germ line an elevated mutational load offspring. The net result such disease burden carried progeny males, dominant genetic diseases as Apert syndrome achondroplasia, neuropsychiatric conditions autism spontaneous schizophrenia. basis these age-related effects appears to involve two fundamental mechanisms. first positive selection mechanism whereby stem cells containing mutations mitogen-activated protein kinase pathway gain selective advantage over their non-mutant counterparts exhibit significant clonal expansion passage time. second dependent oxidative stress which impairs steroidogenic capacity Leydig cells, disrupts ability Sertoli support normal differentiation functional integrity spermatozoa. Given central importance defining chronological reproduction, there may be role for antioxidants clinical management this process. animal studies supportive strategy, carefully designed trials now needed if realize therapeutic potential approach context.

Nutritional interventions facilitating the consumption of natural, affordable, and environment-compatible health-promoting functional foods are a promising strategy for controlling non-communicable diseases. Given that complex tomato micronutrients produces healthier outcomes than lycopene, its major antioxidant component, new strategies to improve health-supporting properties berry ongoing. In this context, whole food supplement (WTFS), enriched by 2% olive wastewater containing healthy nutrients with converging biologic activities, has recently been developed, which is superior those present in commodities or obtained conventional processing methods. Fruits and vegetables processing produces significant amounts of by-products rich in valuable bioactive compounds such as polyphenols dietary fiber. Food by-product re-use promotes the eco-sustainability several crops. This study aimed to apply green extractions from basil, tomato, red bell pepper production. Tests were performed by applying extraction procedures both at laboratory scale using Timatic® extractor. Water ethanol 10% 20% used for testing different temperatures (30, 50, 90 °C; water °C applied basil. The obtained phenolic extracts analyzed HPLC-DAD-MS. Polysaccharides tomato extracted chemically characterized 1H-NMR define methylation acylation degree, DLS estimate hydrodynamic volume. Laboratory tests allowed efficient scaling-up process on Phenolic content dried (DE) ranged 8.0-11.2 mg/g reached 240 basil extracts. Polysaccharide yields (w/w DM) 6.0 10.4% pepper, respectively. Dry extractor can be useful sources phenols. provided new data polysaccharides that may future applications.

Nutritional interventions facilitating the consumption of available, affordable, and environment-compatible health-promoting functional foods (FF) are a promising strategy for controlling non-communicable diseases (NCDs) responsible decreasing health expectancy. Given that complex tomato micronutrients produces healthier outcomes than lycopene, its major antioxidant component, we have devised new controlled berry processing to improve health-supporting properties. The newly generated whole food supplement (WTFS), enriched by 2% olive wastewater polyphenols, contains healthy nutrients with converging biologic activities superior those provided commodities. WTFS equals activity N-acetyl-cysteine interferes multiple inflammation-eliciting sustaining metabolic pathways. inhibits prostate experimental tumors, improves benign hypertrophy-associated symptoms. Although may be susceptible further improvements clinical scrutiny, composition embodies features an advanced FF ease adherence regimens, i.e. Mediterranean diet, aimed at contrasting low-grade inflammation. Ongoing investigations suggest areas potential translational WTFS, as basis developing more targeted interceptive or preventive NCDs.
