Chitosan is a natural polymer with numerous biomedical applications. The cellular activity of chitosan has been studied in various types cancer, including melanoma, and indicates that these molecules can open new perspectives on antiproliferative action anticancer therapy. This study analyzes how different conformations, such as α-chitosan (CH) or β-oligochitosan (CO), degrees deacetylation (DDA) molar mass (MM), both concentrations CH–CO mixtures, influence the processes SK-MEL-28 melanocytes, to estimate reactivity cells applied treatments. vitro evaluation was carried out, aiming at metabolism (MTT assay), morphology, chitinase-like glycoprotein YKL-40 expression. effect mixture application melanocytes obvious low α-chitosan/β-oligochitosan (1:2 ratio), cell’s response supporting hypothesis β-oligo-chitosan amplifies effect. oligochitosan mixture, favored by β conformation its small size, penetrates faster into cells, being more reactive when interacting some components.
