Amniotic fluid is a complex and dynamic biological matrix that surrounds the fetus during pregnancy. From this fluid, possible to isolate various cell types with particular interest directed towards stem cells (AF-SCs). These are highly appealing due their numerous potential applications in field of regenerative medicine for tissues organs as well treating conditions such traumatic or ischemic injuries nervous system, myocardial infarction, cancer. AF-SCs, when subcultured presence basic Fibroblast Growth Factor (bFGF), have been shown survive migrate transplanted into striatum rat brain, exhibiting behavior characteristics neuronal/glial progenitor cells. In work, we performed an electrophysiological characterization ascertain propensity AF-SCs differentiate glial neuronal by bFGF. By using patch clamp technique characterized fibroblast-like morphology display barium-sensitive inward-rectifying potassium current (Kir) calcium-activated currents (KCa).
