Background Cytokine network disturbances in primary Sjögren’s syndrome (pSS) have been reported many studies. However, their functions patients with and interstitial lung disease (pSS-ILD) is controversial. In this study, we aim to investigate the associations of immunological characteristics cytokine profiles pSS-ILD pathogenesis explore predictive values for pSS progression. Methods A total 256 initially diagnosed at Henan Provincial People’s Hospital were enrolled. After excluding previously various serious acute chronic respiratory system diseases cases other connective tissue or congenital heart diseases, 94 included further analysis, including 40 ILD 54 without (pSS-N-ILD). For comparison, 41 age- sex-matched healthy individuals as normal controls. Their clinical symptoms serological data cyclic citrullinated peptide (CCP) antibody (anti-CCP), antinuclear (ANA), anti-Ro52, anti-SSA, anti-SSB, C-reactive protein, IgG, IgM, IgA, C3, C4, 10 cytokines chemokines obtained. Wilcoxon test, chi-square Spearman correlation logistics regression analysis performed. Results Higher positive rates anti-SSB higher incidence dry cough, dyspnea, arthrosis shown than pSS-N-ILD cases. Anti-CCP antibodies (IL-1β, TNFα, IL-6, IL-5, IL-12p70, IL-17) higher, while C3 was lower Significant negative correlations IgG C4 IL-12p70 IL-17 IL-6 only patients. The anti-CCP positively correlated IL-5 patients, but not Multi-variable revealed combination anti-CCP, IL-17, effective predicting status Conclusion There significant differences serum marker levels between might be a potential risk predictor occurrence. involved development progression pSS-ILD. These results would provide new therapeutic targets treatment.

Pulmonary fibrosis (PF) emerges as a significant pulmonary sequelae in the convalescent phase of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), with current strategies neither specifically preventive nor therapeutic. Geum japonicum var. chinense (GJC) is used traditional Chinese medicine to effectively treat various respiratory conditions. However, protective effects GJC against PF remains unclear. In present study, anti-PF effect aqueous extract was studied using mouse model induced by bleomycin (BLM). To characterize metabolite changes related and reveal therapeutic targets for extract, we performed metabolomic network analysis on mice lungs. Finally, key were then validated Western blotting. alleviated onset progression lung inhibiting inflammatory responses regulating oxidative stress levels.
