Abstract Plesiomonas shigelloides ( P. ) is a gram-negative, thermotolerant, motile, and pleomorphic microorganism that acts as an opportunistic pathogen, capable of causing abscesses, enteric infections, even sepsis in humans other animals, thereby posing threat to human animal health worldwide. The crested ibis Nipponia nippon globally endangered avian species with limited population vulnerable for various infections. To gain better understanding the prevalence ibis, fecal samples from at Xiazhu Lake Crested Ibis Breeding Research Center, China were collected analyzed. results confirmed 45.6% (36/79) tested positive . Antibiotic susceptibility testing showed 27.8% (10/36) isolates multidrug-resistant, resistance ampicillin amikacin being 100% 77.8%, respectively. Subsequently, ten representative subjected whole genome sequencing, virulence genes evolutionary tree genomes show these strains have different origins, one strain closely related human. Finally, pathogenicity experiment demonstrated several exhibit both mice waterfowl, two displaying lethal mice. best our knowledge, this first report multidrug-resistant pathogenic isolated suggesting potential broader public implications.
