Sponges of the genus Neopetrosia are known for production a large diversity bioactive metabolites. Contignasterines A (1) and B (2) were isolated as major metabolites sponge cf. rava collected in Bismarck Sea along with highly steroid contignasterol (3) possessing similar oxidized aglycone. characterized by presence 2-aminoimidazole branched on side-chains steroid, 1 also contains an unusual phosphate group at C-7. The anti-inflammatory activities these compounds investigated revealed that all three inhibited pro-inflammatory mediators.
