Ectropis obliqua, a notorious tea pest, produces Type-II sex pheromone blend for mate communication. This contains (Z,Z,Z)-3,6,9-octadecatriene, (Z,Z)-3,9-cis-6,7-epoxy-octadecadiene, and (Z,Z)-3,9-cis-6,7-epoxy-nonadecadiene. To elucidate the genes related to biosynthesis of these components, transcriptome sequencing female E. obliqua gland abdomen without was performed. Comparative RNAseq analyses identified 52 putative genes, including 7 fatty acyl-CoA elongases (ELOs), 9 reductases (FARs), 1 decarbonylase (DEC), 3 lipophorins (LIPs), 32 cytochrome P450 enzymes (CYPs). Tissue expression profiles revealed that two ELOs (ELO3 ELO5), FARs (FAR2 FAR9), one DEC (CYP4G173), LIP (LIP1) displayed either abdomen-centric or -specific expression, suggesting potential roles in within oenocytes obliqua. Furthermore, tissue patterns, combined with phylogenetic analysis, showed CYP340BD1, which expressed specifically predominantly only gland, clustered previously reported epoxidases, highlighting its role epoxidation unsaturated polytriene components. Collectively, our research provides valuable insights into linked biosynthesis.

The tea tussock moth is a pest that damages leaves, affecting the quality and yield of causing huge economic losses. efficient asymmetric total synthesis sex pheromone was achieved using commercially available starting materials with 25% overall in 11 steps. Moreover, chiral moiety introduced by Evans’ template key C-C bond construction accomplished through Julia–Kocienski olefination coupling. synthetic will facilitate subsequent assessment implementation pheromones as environmentally friendly tools for management.
