Abstract Bioplastics have the potential to mitigate plastic pollution and contribute achievement of UN Sustainable Development Goals (UN-SDGs). However, proportion bioplastics in total production is still comparatively low. Understanding consumers’ willingness pay (WTP) influencing factors essential as demands drive need for production. A discrete choice experiment (DCE) was conducted investigate WTP identify underlying drivers barriers sustainable purchase intention. Results showed that 89% time consumers chose bioplastic medical masks while 11% not purchase. Biodegradability most valued attributes which reflected on highest premium price product are biodegradable under six months. Consumers preferred first generation raw material rather than second third material. Moreover, greater percentage free pollutants information were properties. By estimating influence covariates, results education level, income, personal innovativeness, subjective norm, COVID-19 acted drivers, whereas age perceived policy effectiveness consumption products. Based results, implications include highlighting value, providing quality reliability information, informing educating targeted consumer groups, enhancing publicity, adjusting policies based feedback. These can be used develop market promotion strategies products increase shares penetration.
